Topic Title: HSBC Bungles GM Card Account

Post
Thu Feb 16, 2006 11:58 pm

JS in Ohio reports "I had, until May 2005, a GM MasterCard and since June 2005 have been experiencing issues with HSBC, to the point where it has/is caused(ing) undue stress on my marriage (just one of many issues). I Lost my Credit Card in late May, it was found and the card cancelled. I called around the same time asking if the card had been cancelled and if a replacement would be sent. They said yes to both questions. Well, I never received the replacement. Fast Forward to this month, I recently (Dec05) determined HSBC opened a new account, so I wrote them about this unauthorized act and stated I wouldn't pay them more than $100 a month until they explained their relationship with GM Master Card and the new account. Their response, I guess, was to hire a Law Office in Columbus, OH (Weltman, Weinberg, & Reis) to act as a debt Collector. I have 30 days from Feb 8 to respond to their letter, but wondering should I seek lawyer to deal with HSBCs Attorney or go it alone? This is a great website and I have experienced many of the issues described by others."
