DF reports "It sounds like you've received a lot of complaints regarding HSBC Banking. Well, add one more to the pile: I applied for the card online, was given a credit line, and received the card in the mail. I called and they told me that I needed to send in documentation because there was a discrepancy between my credit report and what I put online. I asked them what the discrepancy was and which credit reporting agency it was (I figure if they are behind on information on me, then I would update them). HSBC refused. My information is MY information. No one elses. HSBC does NOT have the right to keep information about MY credit report from ME! I would NOT recommend ANYONE to attempt to get a credit line through them. Firstly, their credit line is low, hardly worth it. Secondly, it is extremely arrogant of them to keep information on myself from me. Thirdly, they expect you to go through cumbersome steps because they rely on a credit reporting agency that does not give good information. How convenient."

Reported via the Helpline: "This company took over $1300.00 out of my tax refund this year for a RAL I supposedly "owe" them for in 1991. I have never received one letter regarding any debt to this company. Only recently have I become familiar with them when they showed up on a credit report as a bad loan mark. What should I do? They will not give me any info or verification of debt."
