Topic Title: Alert to Canadian HFC Account Holders
We received a special report and request that we would like to bring to your attention.
From their report: "We receive calls every few days from concerned Canadians who have received a bill and vaguely threatening letter from HFC telling them they owe money to HFC (usually as a result of purchasing something from The Brick, Future Shop or other such retail chain)"
Their problem is when customers call the toll free number expecting to speak with someone from HSBC, a non-profit business is charged for the incoming call. The number is a wrong number.
I won't post the telephone number, or the organization's name, on our website because it might link the nonprofit business with HSBC. I am asking our Canadian readers to write us and report any toll free numbers that are given on any correspondence they have received from HSBC. If the toll free telephone number matches, we may request that you furnish a copy (account information omitted) that the injured party may use in their "cease and desist" order against HSBC.
For some of you that may be unaware, when a person calls a toll free number the charges are reversed and paid by the party that holds the number. Every time a person calls the incorrect number, the nonprofit holding the telephone number gets charged for the wrong number and the consumer making the call still can not talk to a representative of HSBC. Obviously the nonprofit can not afford to waste their time and money on HSBC calls and wants the calls to stop.
If you have any information or have received a letter with the incorrect telephone number please use our contact us information at this site.
Thank you
