Topic Title: Costco HSBC Payment Not Late

Message: My card is a Costco card. Last summer I received late charges on bills which I was sure the payment should have been received on time. Payments to other companies mailed the same day were received in the time you would expect. This month I received another late charge. The check was sent on June 29 but not posted to Retail Services until July 13. I suspect, but of course can't prove, the delayed posting is a practice of this company, either due to poor process or designed process.
I called the phone number on the bill. There was no option for billing questions so I selected the report a lost card option. That got through to a human who checked my account to determine if I "qualified to have the late charge waived". I did and they waived it. Issue solved for the moment. Because I have had this issue with this company before, I suspect it is the company's problem. I have not had similar problems with any other card or company. The first time was last summer, also I suspect it is their vacation schedule that causes the problem.
Is it possible it is their anticipation of the customer's vacation during the summer and they think the undue charge will slip by?
