Topic Title: Legal Violation - Without Permission
Via email HR in Utah said:
I am concerned. I pulled my credit report tonight and found an inquiry on my report from Household Credit in NV under the category of inquiries that required my consent. The inquiry was made 3 days ago and I am sure I didn't consent to any inquiries on my credit as I am not looking to secure any loans, credit cards, etc. After reading what I could find about them, I am worried that I will have an account with a balance show up on my report. What is my recourse if a company claims to have consent and does not. As an aside, I recall them telemarketing me about this card. I told them I would look over their information but that they did not have permission to pull my credit and I refused to provide them with my Social Security Number. I have this call on tape. I would like to get this fixed.

You must inform the credit bureau that you did not authorize this hard pull. I suggest you see what they tell you and follow their suggestions as to what to do next. You can try at this point to contact Household but IMO you will not have any luck with them at all.
BTW, it is always best to write, using registered/return receipt. Phone calls, unless legally recorded, do not stand up as evidence.
Good Luck!
