Topic Title: Late Fees When Bill is Paid Early
I only get paid once a month. It always lands on the 20th, so I pay all of my bills then. My HSBC billing period starts on the 21st. Not realizing this, I paid the April 14th bill on the 20th of March. Then, around the 15th of April I was charged a late fee. ($29.00). I called them to find out why I was charged a late fee if I paid it on the 20th of March, and it's due on the 14th of April. They said that they didn't receive a payment for the 14th of April. So I asked them what the payment from the 20th of March went to, and they said that it went as a double payment for March. They said it didn't count for this month because I paid it before the billing cycle started. After arguing with the foreign woman that I couldn't understand for 20 minutes she agreed to refund the late fee. Now I have to make a payment on April 20th for the April 14th, and save another payment to make for the 14th of May because if I don't I will be behind still. So the moral of the story is: don't pay your bill early, or it will be late.
