Topic Title: HSBC Best Buy Application and Many Lies

CC in Texas cautions everyone. He said "My story begins with a trip to Best Buy where my wife and I applied for a Best But card for a TV purchase. Mine was denied due to a past bankruptcy, hers was approved. A few months later I recieved a bill with a 90.00 "membership fee" and a late charge for a credit card I never recieved. Since then I have fought with this company over one thing or another until I finally closed and paid off my account. I sent a check throught the mail along with a payment for my wife's account.

Nine months later I recieved a phone call from Oxford debt collection stating I had a balance of 290.00 and some change due to a balance unpaid. When I called HSBC, they stated they didn't have my new address or phone number to reach me to let me know of the unpaid balance. I asked the collections agency where they got my info, and they stated HSBC sent it to them! I should hope they have my address because my mortgage is through them. Since then I have disputed the claim, sent bank records of the cleared payment check, corrected my address 7 times over the phone and 3 times through fax (which they claim not to have gotten) and they still are using my old address. They say after they did an internal investigation I am still responsible for the balance. My phone calls are not returned and I still have an account in collections. Add this to you lawsuit."
