Topic Title: Room Store and HSBC a Nightmare

Am in Texas said "I made a substantial purchase from the Room Store, whose sales are financed by Household Retail. Had I known it ahead of time, I would never have done it, but I thought the store had their own financing company. When I made the purchase, I was absolutely specific that the payment had to be after the 15th, because I made other payments on the first of the month, and in order to budget accordingly, I needed to be able to pay out of my 15th check. Both the sales person AND THE CREDIT PERSON at the store assured me it would not be a problem.

When I got the statement, and found they had scheduled the payment to be RECEIVED on the 15th, and the company was Household, I was concerned, but tried to handle it in a professional manner. I called and explained the situation, and said I needed the payment at that specific time, and that it book 3 to 5 days for my bank to get it to them, as my salary is deposited directly, and all my bills are paid automatically from my account. They refused, ABSOLUTELY, to even discuss a change of just 5 days, in order that my payment could always be on time.

So I thought I would just pay twice as much, and it would compensate, but they have continued to charge me late $35.00 fees every time the payment did not arrive on the 15th, and even though I called at least 3 times and asked for a complete accounting of the charges and payments, they have refused. My last bill showed I owed $44.00, but because it did not get there on the 15th, the balance is now $77. and change. I am sending them a check certified, RRR, to make sure I had someone sign for it. This has been a nightmare."

Editor's Note: Part of the extra money goes back to Room Store as ongoing compensation. Do the sales person and the Room Store credit person know about ongoing compensation? Sure they do. Did they lie to the customer? You decide!
